What is your favorite song?
Is it on the album?
Is it a song from their EP?
Is it from last year's Graet Mondays?
My favorite song is Morning Comes.
I was looking through my Delta Rae song library the other night, and I realized I have more versions of that song that anything else! There's the recording from the EP, the Graet Monday recording, the live album recording, the album version, and the acoustic one from the deluxe album.

Greg, you are going to have
Greg, you are going to have an awesome night! Let us know what you think.
The new arrangement of Morning Comes is growing on me, but I prefer the Graet Monday arrangement and the acoustic version.
Morning Comes...just can't
Morning Comes...just can't decide if I like the piano on the acoustic version or the great harmony lead-in on the regular cut. It is one of my favorite songs of all-time. I can't wait to see them Friday night in Indianapolis...first time.
I've seen them in Dallas
I've seen them in Dallas (should have seen them a 2nd time here a couple of weekends ago, but the show was canceled due to rain), Austin (5 times - 4 at SXSW), Houston, Little Rock, Nashville, Knoxville, Carrboro (twice), Raleigh and Asheville. So...that's four states! Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina!
what cities have you seen
what cities have you seen them in? I talked to Eric after the show and told him to tour Orange County in California. He doesn't know the area, but I'm sure they would kill the House of Blues in Anaheim plus, they could go to Disneyland lol.
I agree. You haven't
I agree. You haven't experienced Delta Rae until you've seen them live...and then you're hooked. That's why I've seen them 14 times in about a year and a half. :)
I saw it through Living
I saw it through Living Social which posted the video in the offer. From there I jumped all over youtube as I wanted more. Yeah, I saw them at El Rey. I loved it live, especially with those high school kids. However, it's hard to say which song is my favorite live. They all bring such a different dynamic that you can't just pick a song because there's what, four singers in the group. Such total bliss.
Jacob, where did you see the
Jacob, where did you see the BotR video? VH1? Youtube?
How did you feel about the song after seeing it live? Did you see them at El Rey? I bet it was INCREDIBLE with the acapella group! That song is definitely an experience live.
Man, this is hard. What got
Man, this is hard. What got me into the band (which was only more than about a week ago) was Bottom of the River's music video. I was just so shocked that such a small white girl had such a powerful voice and the sound was something that isn't found in music. Then I started searching through youtube and I love the message of Chain on Love and the story of the song. Having watched them Saturday, my list expanded as Liz rocked If I Loved You with that magical voice of hers. Fire is just as powerful as Brittnay's voice is so unique and full of rage. Then there is Hey Hey Hey and Dancing in the Graveyard which makes you want to get up and dance.
Morning Comes :)
Morning Comes :)
Holding Onto Good has
Holding Onto Good has definitely improved a lot. I listened to the EP version, the live album version, and then the album version, and the difference is amazing. It's fun going through the older versions of songs and comparing them to the new...and comparing the album version to how they do it live. I really enjoy Eric's trashcan bit in Dance in the Graveyards.
I also love Memphis but
I also love Memphis but unfortunately we won't be hearing it anymore since it's not a Delta Rae song per se so no bueno there. Outside of that, I LOVE Ooh Caroline and New Days :)
I would say that Holding Onto Good is BY FAR the most improved overall of their songs. Surrounded is awesome with the horns though! And of course, Bottom of the River will always hold a special place in my heart. It shockingly reminds me of growing up...but that's a story for another time! ;) And Ashley, I'm pretty sure they started the Hanson set with Morning Comes :) I was fortunate enough to be there for that and meet them afterwards! I knew from that moment on that they were going places!!!!!
Yes, Deane, Memphis was a
Yes, Deane, Memphis was a gRAEt Monday video without mp3 download. It was definitely one of my favorites, and I'm sad it didn't make the album. (and I agree, love the AMEN!).
Most Improved? I was also impressed with Fire. I wasn't sure how it would work on the album., but I'm gonna have to give most improved to Surrounded. I LOVE THOSE HORNS!!! It's awesome without horns too, but holy crap...seeing in live with horns at Cat's Cradle was so amazing!
The first song I heard was New Days...or Bottom of the River. The first time I heard them was on the livestream they did with Hanson in the summer of 2010...but I can't remember what song they did first. I want to say New Days was first. Mostly I remember Isaac geeking out over Bottom of the River. :) I should watch it again! If you haven't seen it, it's archived on Hanson's site (and it's probably on youtube).
Memphis
Memphis
sadly, no
and again, no
ummm - yes I think so. Wasn't the K house Studios YouTube version of "Memphis" a gREAt Mondays release but without an MP3? Of course that's no longer on YouTube (for public viewing that is) - but it was a winner - and the "Amen" was still in "Memphis" back then ; )
So - as far as a song that is more available than Memphis .... it's just too difficult. So I'll try a current top 5:
Darlin If (played the 1st show I saw 12/2010 as was Memphis)
Surrounded
Burning in Carolina
No Land
BOTR -
here's two additional questions:
What song do you think was most improved (from prior recordings or hearing it live) on the album?
my answer: Fire
What's the very first Delta Rae song you heard?
my answer: Morning Comes - the opening song the 1st time I saw them
live -
my favorite has just about
my favorite has just about always been Darlin' If. But I love so many of them...it's hard to choose.
I can't just pick one song,
I can't just pick one song, though. I'll give you my current top 5!
1. Morning Comes
2. Surrounded
3. What You Thinking Bout, Baby?
4. Burning in Carolina
5. Dance in the Graveyards
I'll go ahead and give you a top 5 of live songs too! (I'm excluding Burning in Carolina and What You Thinking Bout, Baby because that's the only way to hear them right now, other than youtube)
1. Morning Comes
2. Dance in the Graveyards
3. Fire
4. If I Loved You
5. Hey Hey Hey
6. Enjoy My Song (Sorry, couldn't limit it to just 5)
I have all of these songs listed, and I've still left out so many! They have SO MANY good songs, and they kill them all live!
